On Monday, April 8th, we all experienced the rare phenomenon of a solar eclipse. University of Central Florida (UCF) did not let the fact that we couldn’t see the full eclipse from our campus stop us from celebrating. Students and staff came to the reflecting pond where the Florida Space Institute presented 1500 solar eclipse glasses and 1000 complimentary totes for a “Not So Total Eclipse” event. This event was sponsored by UCF Libraries, NASA Florida Space Consortium, UCF Department of Physics, UCF Office of Research and UCF Communications and Marketing. President Cartwright and Winston Schoenfeld, Interim VP for Research spoke at the event and researchers and colleges/departments had various stations set up around the pond to present their projects concerning the sun. Knightro even joined in on the fun.
As the solar eclipse painted the sky, the UCF community embarked on a journey far beyond the stars. It wasn't just about witnessing an eclipse—it was about coming together, forging friendships, and making memories that would last a lifetime, all with a sprinkle of UCF magic!
This event highlighted UCF's secret sauce: a commitment to creating a community where everyone feels like they belong. Whether you're high-fiving colleagues in the hallway or sharing a laugh with the university president, every moment at UCF is a chance to be part of something bigger than yourself.
So why choose UCF? Well, besides our stellar academics and groundbreaking research, we're all about embracing the extraordinary moments that make life—and work—worthwhile. The solar eclipse experience at UCF isn't just about gazing at the sky; it's about embracing unity, fostering creativity, and making memories that shine brighter than any star in the galaxy.
So, fellow cosmic adventurers, come join us under the UCF umbrella, where every day is an adventure, every colleague is a friend, and every eclipse is an excuse to celebrate the magic of togetherness. After all, at UCF, the sky's not the limit—it's just the beginning of an incredible journey that's out of this world! 🌟🌒✨
