Job Description:

The Cell and Tissue Engineering lab of Dr. Thomas Kean at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking an innovative post-doctoral fellow with an interest in orthopedic research (https://med.ucf.edu/directory/thomas-kean-phd/). With Dr. Kean, the postdoctoral scholar will work on elucidating mechanisms of osteoarthritis and investigate cartilage regeneration. Candidates will be trained in chondrocyte and cartilage biology, lab automation/high-throughput techniques and tissue engineering and Dr. Kean is a supportive mentor for individual career goals.

 

The College of Medicine has a stimulating environment in a growing community offering great potential for advancement. The Cell and Tissue Engineering lab is part of the Biionix™ Cluster which is interdisciplinary in nature and provides a working environment that offers excellent opportunities for intellectual exchange and collaborations. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic innovative team with a strong translational focus. The successful candidate will conduct scientific research using lab based in vitro techniques as well as animal models. This position offers excellent opportunities to develop skills in tissue repair and regeneration, cell therapy, artificial tissue development and tissue-implant integration. This is a 2-year position with an immediate start date.

 

The Biionix™ Cluster is located within the College of Medicine, which is part of a growing “Medical City” dedicated to innovation in health and wellness that includes multiple health affairs disciplines, a state-of-the-art research center at the Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences, a medical school, multiple clinical graduate medical education programs, UCF outpatient clinics, and the ongoing construction of the new UCF Lake Nona Medical Center. Nearby are the Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the Guidewell Innovation research incubator, the Nemours Children’s Hospital, and the new UCF Lake Nona Cancer Center. Together they provide a hub for biomedical innovation that is transforming Orlando into a global destination for health care, research, and biomedical and education.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in a related discipline or M.D./Ph.D. from an accredited institution and a strong record of research accomplishments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in defining molecular mechanisms and pathways.
