Job Description:

The University of Central Florida (UCF) School of Performing Arts (SPA), within the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH), invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-earning assistant professor in Music and program director of choral activities, anticipated to begin August of 2020. This position is pending funding.

 

The successful candidate will provide ensemble and logistical leadership for the choral/vocal area, conduct choral ensembles, teach choral conducting, observe and supervise choral music education student interns and collaborate with clinical education teachers, actively participate in recruitment for the department, and promote a collegial and collaborative environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in Music from an accredited institution.

2. Record of successful college-level choral teaching experience.

3. Artist level conductor with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and administration.

4. The ability to demonstrate a clear capacity for academic advancement through scholarship commensurate with a tenure-earning position.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. A completed a doctorate in choral music from an accredited institution.

2. Evidence of successful and significant secondary choral music teaching experience.

3. Evidence of successful and significant college choral music teaching experience or professional equivalent.

4. Experience with supervision of teaching interns.

5. The ability to relate to and work well with a diverse student population.

6. Experience teaching and/or mentoring graduate students and K-12 educators.
