Job Description:

UCF IT is seeking a Systems Engineer III to serve as the technical lead for a campus-wide AWS service implementation. This position will be the subject matter expert for AWS on campus and will assist with adoption of the platform as well as cloud automation efforts.

Duties for this position include:

  • Serving as subject-matter expert for UCF IT AWS engineering and infrastructure efforts, which include consulting with other teams and stakeholders on cloud services.

  • Planning, building, supporting, and maintaining AWS infrastructure at a departmental and enterprise level.

  • Conducting analysis, development, testing, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure to meet technical and business requirements.

  • Consulting and maintaining relationships with campus AWS stakeholders to engineer effective AWS designs to solve research and business needs.

  • Serving as a technical leader in cloud and infrastructure automation.

  • Consulting with other teams to automate existing infrastructure deployments and processes.

  • Conducting proofs of concept in new technology and methodology to evaluate their potential use.

  • Creating best practices and comprehensive documentation on configurations.

  • Maintaining infrastructure and systems configuration in version control.

  • Contributing to projects on complex technical and business matters.

  • Work is highly independent and collaborative in nature.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates for this position will possess some of the following skills:

  • A broad span of IT knowledge encompassing infrastructure, network, and security concepts.
  • Experience configuring and supporting an AWS environment.
  • Experience with automation and DevOps concepts, with a demonstrated ability to automate deployments and configuration while utilizing version control systems.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform) and configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible).
  • Strong willingness to collaborate and share knowledge and expertise with other engineers.
  • Relevant certifications including cloud and/or automation certifications, ITIL certification.
