Job Description:

LabX, the research laboratory of Dr. Ben Sawyer, is seeking a research assistant to assist with and execute engineering research studies.

 

Our laboratory works with applied neuroscience and psychophysics toward informing engineering and design. The primary duty will be to execute research under the direction of senior laboratory members, keeping studies organized, on track, and moving forward, while creating an exceptional experience for our diverse volunteers. 

 

  • The role will include building experimental stimuli, collecting data, data coding, handling research-related paperwork, and assisting in communication with collaborators and sponsors.
  • This position could be ideal for an individual interested in attending graduate school following this experience.
  • The successful applicant must be organized and detail oriented, able to follow exacting research protocols. It is desirable to show evidence of past success working independently as well as in a team setting. Clear communication in both speaking and the written word is important.

Hours of work:

20 Hours (Part-time)

Work Schedule:

Hours will vary between Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Hourly Rate:

$12 per hour

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree, or progress toward a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science is preferred. Previous experience with human research, interacting with internal review boards is desired. Experience or interest in industrial engineering, human factors, design, typography, education, or military training is a plus, as is experience in finance or banking, cybersecurity, or intelligence.
