Visiting Instructor or Lecturer, Integrated Business

Administrative Title:

No Administrative Function

Job Description:

The Integrated Business (IB) department at the University of Central Florida (UCF) seeks to fill a one-year visiting instructor or lecturer position. The teaching assignment will focus on two of the program’s required classes: the Project Management course, which includes coverage of the project environment, the project manager’s role, project phases from initiation to closing, and common project management software, and the IB Foundations course, which covers a range of transferable skills and has a heavy emphasis on oral presentation and writing. The assignment may include other courses in the undergraduate IB program and the IB track of the Master of Science in Management (MSM) program, depending on qualifications. The position will likely focus on a single course. This is a nine-month, non-tenure earning position anticipated to start August 8, 2020 (fall semester). The normal teaching load is four classes in the fall semester and four classes in the spring semester. While the primary assignment is at the UCF main campus, the selected candidate may be required to teach at two or more campuses each semester. Campus assignments could include the main (Orlando), Valencia West, and Valencia East campuses.

The IB program employs a lead faculty member structure in which the content and structure of each course is developed and maintained by the lead. Instructors are expected to focus on high quality course delivery and substantive student engagement. Instructors also provide input on development of common assignments and assessments and changes in course content and structure. The IB program has adopted a flipped classroom approach in which face-to-face class time is used to actively engage students with course material and develop in them a range of soft skills.
