Job Description:

This staff position reports to the director of the School of Social Work. Responsible for ensuring the quality, coordination & monitoring of the field education components including overseeing student internship in the community, interfacing with existing and new community agencies, developing and overseeing the delivery of field seminars & internship sites in the community. This position works closely with the field faculty and program directors and coordinates daily operational functions of field education. Maintains positive relationships and communications with community partners. This position coordinates with field faculty & office support to facilitate the internship process which includes the completion of onboarding requirements and the confirmation of placements prior to the start of the semester. Maintains all field education databases, enters and renews affiliation agreements and other coordinating duties related to field education.

  • Provides a major coordinating role: is primary point of contact for field education with students, faculty and community partners while providing the highest level of customer services, coordinates with school director on field education faculty assignments and other relevant matters relating to delivery of field education services including problem solving of student situations.
  • Communicates effectively with community partners throughout Central Florida each semester to determine availability of internship opportunities for undergraduate, graduate generalist and graduate clinical students, this includes renewing existing internships and developing new internship sites. Develops and maintains positive community relationships throughout this process.
  • Coordinates all field education faculty activities during fall, spring and summer semesters with the placement process of undergraduate and graduate students including participation in the placement and interview process when necessary. This process includes direct involvement in problem solving field site agency /student concerns and challenges.
  • Coordinates on-boarding process for all student internships per requirements of the university and community partners. Organizes the process for each partnership and oversees medical & background clearances (verifications of immunizations, completion of background checks, arrangements for FIT testing, drug screening, CPR training, referrals, grading of test and related activities).
  • Oversees and works directly with designated OPS support on maintaining, updating and troubleshooting the various data management systems (IPT, TEAMS, Tracking Data Base, etc.) related to field education to ensure that all the systems are updated and working effectively to support field faculty.
  • Coordinates with field education faculty and monitors all undergraduate and graduate students to ensure that a confirmed placement is in order prior to the start of the semester and facilitates the resolution of problems that may occur in this process. Will be directly responsible for placing and monitoring a group of students in their internships-especially during the summer semester.
  • Ensures and monitors that all new affiliation agreements and renewals of existing affiliation agreements are completed in a timely manner. Utilizes and oversees Cobblestone and communicates with the college and UCF offices to facilitate agreements.
  • Confirms field instructor credentials, provides & monitors field instructor training per CSWE standards. Training is coordinated with school director and includes: yearly two hour Field Instructor Training, Field Advisory Committee meetings, Field Committee meetings, field fairs, annual Field Instructor Appreciation & Awards event, field instructor & student orientations.
  • Coordinates and works with the school director and others in the School of Social Work on event planning and training for field education including execution and post-event evaluation and follow-up for field education related trainings, workshops and meetings. This includes assisting in planning other (non-field education) school CEU events.
  • Provide regular reports, including statistical information on field education data as requested by the director of the School of Social Work. Assists the director of the school in responding to other reports/information requested by the college or the university. May take minutes at relevant meetings.
  • Communicates, collaborates and coordinates with the program directors on aspects of field education relevant to each program. Will also work closely with the MSW on line field education coordinator (off campus program) to ensure uniformity and consistency in field education components across all School of Social Work programs/tracks.
  • Maintains regular and consistent weekly meeting communication with the director of the School of Social Work to keep the director apprised of all field education related activities. All community requests for special initiatives must be discussed and coordinated with the director of the school.
  • Limited teaching - may teach 1-2 field seminar per year upon request of the director.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An MSW degree.
  • Experience in field education.
  • Minimum of two-4 years of post MSW practice experience in social Work settings.
  • Knowledge of social work education programs.
  • Experience in coordinating responsibilities program development and strong organizational skills.
  • Teaching experience in graduate and/or undergraduate social work degree programs.
  • Some travel is required.
  • Ability to teach on the web
  • Familiarity with central Florida’s social service needs and resources.
  • Experience in developing community partnerships.
