The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking exceptional candidates for a visiting assistant professor position in the area of Computer Engineering. The selected candidate will be expected to teach in fundamental CpE areas such as Computer Organization and Architecture, Computer Networks, and Embedded Systems.


ECE has strong educational programs, with over 400 graduate and 1,200 undergraduate students, and state-of-the-art facilities, including the L3Harris Engineering Center and the Interdisciplinary Research 1 Building. The department has competitive research programs funded by the National Science Foundation, ARO, DARPA, the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, L3Harris, Intel, Lockheed Martin, NASA, Siemens, and Texas Instruments, as well as local high-tech start-ups.


UCF has over 68,000 students and is one of the nation's largest universities. Located in Orlando, ECE and UCF are at the center of the Florida High Tech Corridor with an excellent industrial base in telecommunications, energy, computer systems, semiconductors, defense, space, laser, simulation, software, and the world-renowned entertainment/theme park industry. Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. from a regionally accredited institution in an area appropriate to the ECE disciplines by the start of the appointment. All emerging and traditional areas of Computer Engineering (CpE) are considered. Of special interests are candidates in the following research areas: 1) Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Computing Systems; 2) Computer Architecture and Acceleration Systems; 3) Internet of Things, Cloud and Cyber-Physical Systems; and 4) Secure Computing Systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who possess a strong commitment to academic activities, including teaching, scholarly publications and sponsored research. The preferred candidate will have an exceptional record of scholarly research and, at the senior levels, be highly recognized for their technical contributions and leadership in their areas of expertise.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This is a visiting, non-tenure track, 9-month appointment with benefits, annually renewable for up to four academic years (maximum).
