The Facilities Operations Department is seeking a qualified candidates to fill the Maintenance Technician lI position. The functions performed in this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

This position provides essential support for the operational maintenance and sanitation of campus housing buildings in an effort to provide a safe, functional, clean, efficient and attractive living and learning environment. Responsible to troubleshoot issues, provide service for and respond to requests from customers and/or staff. Scope of this position requires responding to emergencies or other unforeseen situations. Assignments may be rotated from time to time based on the needs of the department and to encourage cross training. At this level the employee is required to have basic maintenance repair and replacement skills to building systems, including but not limited to, chilled and hot water pumps, electrical and plumbing systems. The employee will be required to assume on-call responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Expected Salary:

$36,841

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and 3 years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience. The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Flexible for utilization by trade with most urgent requirements.

  • Ability to read blueprints.

  • Ability to use various electrical meters and construct and install power supplies.

  • Familiarity with operation and powered drain-cleaning machine.

  • Painting knowledge and skills.

  • Ability to understand and follow written/oral instructions.

  • Ability to communicate in conversational English in order to work effectively with customers and team members, operate electronic equipment (iPod Touch for AiM PM checkpoints),comprehend standard safety procedures and utilize telecommunication devices.

  • Ability to operate a vehicle as necessary.

  • Ability to operate essential tools and equipment.

  • Demonstrate capabilities in the following: interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, calculation, reading, evaluating, comprehension and organizing.

  • Proficiency using standard office software applications for work order systems (CMMS).

  • Ability to use EH&S approved chemicals to perform essential job functions daily.

Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license (regular license). The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
