The successful candidate will have roles in both undergraduate medical education (UME) and graduate medical education (GME).  The position may be a tenure- or non-tenure track appointment at the assistant, associate or professor of medicine level.

The UCF-COM M.D. program is undergoing curriculum transformation to ensure the preparation of tomorrow’s physicians and is looking for forward-thinking clinician educators with a passion for teaching who can contribute to clinical, foundational, and/or systems sciences instruction.

UME is a primary role for this position with the major focus being direction of the Neurology content of the broad Brain and Behavior module for all M2 students.  It is a seven-week course co-taught by this position along with faculty in Pathology, Pharmacology, Psychiatry, and Neuroanatomy. The module includes lectures, anatomy lab, and case-based studies.  Depending on the qualifications and the experience of the applicant, they may rise to be, or appointed on hire as, the co-director of this module.  This role will also be responsible for the year-long 4-week Neurology clerkship rotation in the third year. The successful applicant must have significant clinical experience and expertise to serve as the Neurology clerkship director and work with site directors at the various training sites for the administration of this core rotation. The successful candidate must also have demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of Neurology curricula at the undergraduate medical education level.   The candidate will also be responsible for advising students who seek Neurology as their career path.

For GME, this candidate will be one of the core faculty members in the Neurology Residency training program. The successful applicant will work closely with the Residency Program Director and other faculty to provide the didactic, clinical and other training requirements set forth by the ACGME.

The candidate will have a clinical assignment based on their Neurology specialty or sub-specialty expertise (e.g., outpatient clinic, inpatient consultations or wards, neuro-intensive care, epilepsy, movement disorders, MS, Neuro-oncology, etc.). The clinical effort would be at a specialty-appropriate clinic and/or hospital site(s), and is an integral part of providing insight and context to the UME Neurology clerkship director and GME roles. Opportunities to conduct clinical or translational research; to pursue educational scholarship in collaboration with other faculty members and to serve as a mentor for medical students are readily available. As is the case for all faculty, the chosen applicant will also be expected to provide service to the educational programs and other missions of the college and university.
