Job Description:

The OPS Coding/Billing Specialist position at UCF Student Health Services is responsible to perform end to end revenue cycle management/medical billing activities for our student health center. Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


  • Full cycle billing for assigned outpatient patients of primary care and various specialties.
  • Code review & charge entry verification to ensure max reimbursement potential.
  • Claim Scrubbing & error resolution to resolve problems as quickly and efficiently.
  • Manage account payments & reconciliation.
  • Claim corrections, denials management and AR follow up activities to ensure timely reimbursement for the customer.
  • Reporting, analytics & client feedback & communication.
  • Other duties as assigned.


AHSC – Student Health Services

Hours of work:

Within the hours of 7:30 AM-6:30 PM (8 hour shifts/40 hours a week). Hours are subject to change due to operational needs, special projects and emergencies.

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday; Occasional Saturdays may be required.

Hourly Rate:

$15.00 Per hour

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year outpatient billing / coding experience or equivalent education.
  • Certification/diploma in medical billing / coding program.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes & payer reimbursement guidelines.
  • Previous administrative experience and comfort handling telephone calls. 
  • Strong work quality with a positive attitude.
  • Strong multitasking skills and experience with problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of adaptability and must be a team player who can collaborate well with others.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and internet skills including Excel and Word are preferred, and the ability to learn our electronic medical records system quickly is necessary.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and critical thinking skills required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to type 50 wpm.
  • Ability to use fax, copier, and scanning machine.
