Job Description:

The Division of Student Learning and Academic Success (SLAS) seeks a highly motivated Academic Advisor II to manage administrative processes for the department.

  • Provides academic advising to Pre-Health and Pre-Law students using a developmental and appreciative advising process. Works with students to develop a plan of progression to ensure students are on track to complete their Pre-Professional course work in a timely fashion and to assist in their development to become competitive applicants to professional schools.

  • Explains and/or clarifies academic policies and procedures, assists in the career development and major exploration process, and maintains appropriate advising records.

  • Actively participates in and coordinates mock interviews offered to Pre-Health students.

  • Coordinates the office's health professional school and law school recruitment service.

  • Presents on various workshop topics, orientations, student organizations, etc. on related subjects of interest to our Pre-Health and Pre-Law students.

  • Assists in creating, updating, and monitoring the office's web courses and other documents.

  • Participates in office outreach such as virtual or in-person tabling at events like Majors Fairs and Welcome Expos that are coordinated for undergraduate students to learn more about the services our office provides. Also serves on committees within the Division and/or university when needed.

  • Analyzes data and generates and disseminates reports as required and necessary.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Monday through Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

$36,841 - Negotiable

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree.

Additional Minimum Requirements:


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in higher education/student personnel services or another appropriate discipline; experience advising Pre- Health or Pre-Law Students.

  • Experience working in a higher education setting, strong/verbal written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and computer competency.
