Job Description:

The Chief Financial Officer of the UCF Foundation serves as an officer of the UCF Foundation.

  • Oversees the fiscal activities of the foundation including the planning, implementation, and supervision of accounting systems, policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and assists auditors from independent CPA firm. Drafts annual audited and quarterly statements; manages preparation of all required audit schedules and tax work papers for preparation of annual tax return. Maintains expertise in governmental and not-for- profit accounting tax issues; implements procedural changes as needed to ensure that the foundation maintains compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Supervises accounting department staff and leads overall goal setting for the department and implementation of the accounting department objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal and State regulations as they relate to not-for-profits and direct support organizations.
  • Holds check signing authority on authorized bank accounts.
  • Solicits and negotiates financing from banking institutions, real estate investment trusts, and other funding sources.
  • Manages the State Charitable Organization annual registrations and filing requirements program.
  • Oversees and manages all real estate activities and is responsible for implementing acquisitions, financing accounting, and sales of real estate; responsible for the management of facilities owned by the foundation (currently 6 buildings and approximately 450,000 square feet of lease space).
  • Works with legal counsel on risk management for the foundation. Duties include but are not limited to the following: sets the strategic risk management vision and is also charged with delivering that strategy to the foundation management; responsible for ensuring effective hazard (typically insurable risks) risk management for the foundation and supervising and/or directing key risk stakeholders; oversees the process of identifying, measuring, and managing insurable or hazard risks, developing reports and plans, and analyzing risk insurance problems and defining and/or overseeing the implementation of the risk solutions that help optimize operations.
  • Directs the purchase of insurance programs, management of claims and loss control activities, and management of relationships with third party service providers, including brokers, insurers, and other TPA’s preparing loss analyses and budgets.
  • Communicates coverage levels including self-retention to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 12+ years of relevant experience with at least 5+ years of leadership experience.

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is required; master’s degree preferred.
  • CPA certification is preferred
