Job Description:

In collaboration with the board chair and Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Foundation Board Relations and Development plans, organizes and leads the strategic planning efforts to advance the UCF Foundation Board. 

  • Responsible for the creation and management of a well coordinated, strategic fundraising plan to maximize support from board members.
  • Maintains a portfolio of donors and prospects, including current board members. Accountable for a six-figure annual fundraising goal and 65+ visits per fiscal year.
  • Leads and directs the agenda planning and execution of the board’s standing committees.
  • Designs, implements, and manages a comprehensive proactive development plan focused on directing and coordinating activities related to obtaining monetary support from members of the UCF Board of Trustees and the UCF Foundation Board of Directors.
  • Manages and stewards board member relationships.  Helps to ensure that members are fully engaged with and well informed about the UCF Foundation and the University.
  • Manages all aspects of the Foundation Board Meetings including planning and organizing committee and full board meetings.  Works with various members of the Foundation staff to coordinate all logistics for meetings. Contracts with vendors, invites guest speakers and coordinates the production and timely distribution of materials to board members.
  • Responds to inquiries by board members, tactfully and effectively answering questions and providing information to board members as requested.
  • Manages the corresponding operational expenses and provides immediate oversight of daily Board business operations and activities.
  • Plans and implements education programs and cultivation events and activities for the board.
  • Assists the Executive Leadership Team in reviewing and executing the strategic direction of the Foundation Board and provides strategic direction regarding board membership, involvement, philanthropic participation and bylaws.  Maintains the official records of the Foundation Board to ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations.
  • Initiates and carries out plans and policies authorized by the Board.  Oversees resolution of project issues agreed upon by the Board.
  • Oversees that meeting minutes are properly recorded and formally reviewed to create official meeting records. 
  • Serves as historian and expert reference as issues and questions arise.
  • Develops and manages a process for tracking board member and committee assignments. 
  • Serves as a resource to members on choosing board assignments.
  • Oversees the preparation of special recognition and gifts for the board.
  • Prioritizes action items for the CEO, including responses to inquiries by board members; responds on behalf of the CEO as appropriate.
  • Drafts policy papers and talking points on behalf of the CEO.
  • Regularly update biographic, demographic and preference data for the Board in donor database.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and updating of the Board Portal and the Board of Directors section of the website.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

There is an exceedingly high degree of public contact.  Frequent and extensive external networking with alumni, donors, foundations, businesses, community leaders, and other appropriate audiences. Ability to effectively communicate, handle multiple priorities, and handle the pressure of deadlines. Must be able to travel, attend and conduct meetings on and off campus, and make presentations before large and small groups.
