Job Description:

Responsible for planning and conducting investigations in accordance with the Standards for Complaint Handling and Investigations for the State University System of Florida and University Audit investigation procedures.

  • Performs investigations of allegations of wrongdoing and makes recommendations for corrective actions and process improvements.

  • Assists the Associate Director of Investigations in developing internal investigative processes and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable standards and best practices.

  • Mentors student interns in investigative activities and assignments.

  • Responsible for interpreting and adhering to rules and polices of University Audit.

  • Develops training resources and programs to increase fraud awareness and internal control/loss prevention options across the university.

  • Assists with the pursuit and maintenance of investigation accreditation for the office.

  • Reports to the associate director the status of investigations and projects.

  • Establishes and maintains strong partnerships with other UCF departments/colleges, and collaborates with other departments performing investigative work.

  • Stays abreast of investigative best practices, changes in the industry, and technological tools and advances, as well as maintains continuing education credits as required by industry certifications such as the Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Internal Auditor, or Certified Public Accountant.

  • Assists with the development of fraud awareness and prevention initiatives for the university community, including related tasks for the ACFE student chapter at UCF.

  • Performs related duties, as deemed appropriate, in order to accomplish the responsibilities and functions of the office.

  • Maintain a familiarity with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards.

  • Review and enhance audit management software templates, workflow, programs and reports.

  • Perform as acting Associate Director of Investigations as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate should have:

  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor designation.
  • Hold, or obtain within one year of employment, a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation.

The ideal candidate should be able to:

  • Conduct interviews outside of the University Audit office suite, perform office searches, conduct physical inventories, review investigative-related documents, and observe other types of evidence, such as cash, materials, and physical objects.
  • Produce electronic investigative work papers and reports using Office 365 and University Audit's audit software system
  • Travel to university campuses.
