Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Regional Alumni Engagement manages and directs UCF Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving initiatives that increase alumni engagement and annual giving through a regional-based alumni program.

  • Oversee the direction and activities of UCF Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving's regional-based alumni program including the chapters and clubs and their volunteer leadership. Responsibilities include identifying, recruiting and training volunteer leadership as well as managing, reporting and evaluating activities of the chapters and clubs.
  • Expand the regional-based alumni program, both in number of chapters and clubs and their programmatic offerings. Sustain and grow alumni attendance and engagement through regional and national alumni events. Must be willing to travel as necessary.
  • Anticipate, understand and respond to the needs of volunteer leaders; Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.
  • Work with the leadership of the UCF Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving department to develop and execute on annual and long-term strategic goals that increase alumni engagement and philanthropy.
  • Educate volunteer leaders on UCF Advancement's priorities and the university's strategic plan. Collaborate internally with the annual giving staff to promote philanthropy engagement initiatives. Collaborate internally with university-wide development officers in the identification and cultivation of alumni donor prospects.
  • Collaborate externally with UCF entities such as Admissions, Athletics and others to help promote and host strategic engagement events.
  • Assist with regional chapter and club scholarships in the aspects of fundraising, selection, criteria/requirements, donor stewardship, marketing and communication.
  • Manage multiple Financial Edge projects to oversee the daily financial activity of regional chapter and clubs and maintain fiscal stability. Assist in the development of the overall budget of the regional-based alumni program.
  • Assist with content for alumni communications including electronic communications, web content, social media and direct mail for distribution to alumni.
  • Maintain standards for data privacy and integrity with respect to regional alumni queries, chapter and club demographic analysis reports and contact information updates. Provide counsel, advice and technical assistance to university departments and other operational units of the university as it relates to the regional-based alumni program.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with frequent evening and weekend events.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.

  • Ideal candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and should be a superb editor with demonstrated service orientation and diplomacy; the ability to multi-task; be highly organized and detail-oriented, have effective organizational and time management skills; be an independent worker with adept problem-solving and project management skills, a strategic and critical thinker; and have an enthusiastic and energetic attitude.
  • Able to foster relationships and build rapport.
  • Candidate should be familiar with Microsoft Office and have a high level of comfort with technology.
  • Candidate should have demonstrated experience working with databases, websites and social media.
  • Prior event experience preferred; prior alumni relations experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and frequent travel as required.
