Job Description:

This position performs post-award sponsored program functions associated with the post-award administration of awards. The Post Award Finance Specialist III is responsible for the management of sponsored awards from award setup through the project closeout. This position will report to the Manager Sponsored Programs (Post Award).

  • Interpretation and implementation of post award policies and financial compliance in regard to sponsored research projects as required by federal regulations in 2 CFR 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements, sponsor terms and conditions, State of Florida statutes, and University of Central Florida policies.

  • Analyze project expenditures to ensure costs are allowable, allocable, reasonable and consistently handled as directed by 2 CFR 200 and other Federal agency regulations. Review statement of work and other contract and grant requirements for projects. Project sponsors may be federal, state, county,city or other municipality governments; hospitals; private industry partners, non-profit organizations, foundations, etc. This includes pre- and post-expenditure reviews and may include approval of transactions, such as of purchase orders, cost transfer journals, etc.

  • Analyze, coordinate and report findings to Management in various on-going yearly audits. Gather data as needed for UCF internal audits and government agency audits of sponsored projects.

  • Work with institute, center or department administrators and PI's on corrective action as needed for allowability, consistency, allocability and reasonableness-- this may also include the removal of charges incurred after the project end date such as payroll, goods or services not ordered during the performance period, etc.

  • Review award documents to extrapolate critical information to perform all data entry functions in OR's database for new awards, modifications, extensions, budget transfers, etc. and in PeopleSoft, where data does not auto populate fields.

  • Collaborate with OR pre-award administrators as needed to identify and provide solutions for cost sharing discrepancies, budgetary modifications, and award terms and conditions modifications.

  • Ensure appropriate set-up and management of cost share requirements; ensure records accurately document compliance requirements and any special award terms and conditions; ensure cost share/match requirements are captured accurately.

  • Review and approve rebudgeting requests and selected financial transactions related to contract and grant
    accounts; prepare and coordinate financial and other reports as required.

  • Manage the administrative closeout activities and coordinate with Grants Accounting team to ensure the timely closeout and related closeout reporting of research projects.

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Expected Salary:

$56,030

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal skills and should have the ability to work with diverse populations.

  • Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills and critical analyses abilities.

  • Prefer knowledge and experience with UCF policies and procedures.
