Job Description:

The OPS Certified Medical Assistant I position at UCF Health-East Orlando (Near Main Campus) works under the supervision of the Assistant Nurse Manager and practice plan physicians, as well as other healthcare providers, to coordinate and provide clinical care for patients being seen at the time of in office visits, as well as post visit care coordination.

  • Interviews clients to obtain health history, checks vital signs: temperature, blood pressure, pulse and records in Electronic Health Record; ensures accuracy and completeness of medical record.
  • Assists providers with exams and procedures, including surgical procedures; prepares treatment room, ensuring that all instruments and supplies are present; sterilizes and cleans instruments.
  • Answers patient inquiries providing routine information and routing calls to physician when necessary.
  • Performs patient testing, phlebotomy, administers medications and vaccinations, and processes refill requests.
  • Assists with scheduling patient appointments and providing referral and testing information and orders.
  • Obtains lab and testing results and assists with follow-up under the direction of the provider; assists with tracking and follow-up of pathology specimens and results.
  • Maintains adequate supplies in exam/treatment rooms.
  • Participates in educational activities and in-services.
  • Attends staff meetings.  Acts as an engaged member of the Patient Centered Medical Home Team. Participates in team meetings, care huddles, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adheres to HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Hours of work:

8am to 5pm

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday. Hours and location of work may flex based on scheduling and coverage needs. Regular and reliable attendance is expected.

Hourly Rate:

$15.66 per hour

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience.

  • Preference may be given to candidates with excellent Phlebotomy techniques.
  • Preference may be given to candidates that can plan, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate compassion and communicate effectively with diverse populations.

  • Preference may be given to candidates who can work alone or in a team-oriented environment.
  • Preference may be given to candidates that are energetic and adaptable, with a willingness to learn new skills and possess ability to successfully manage simultaneous multiple tasks.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who can establish and maintain positive working relationships with physicians, staff and patients.
  • Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate a commitment to excellent customer service.

  • Sign On one-time Incentive offered $250 within 30 days of first pay period worked and $250 following conclusion of satisfactory probationary period of 6 months with UCF Health.
