Job Description:

Coordinates and implements operational activities pertaining to the Research Integrity Compliance Office under the areas of Conflict of Interest, Responsible Conduct of Research, Research Misconduct, and Human Research Protection Program- Quality Improvement Assessment to assure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.

Responsibilities for the position include:

  • Coordinates and conducts Human Research Protection Program-Quality Improvement Assessments (HRPP-QIA) for approved Institutional Review Board (IRB) studies to ensure adherence to protocol, regulatory requirements, & UCF policies. Prepares assessment reports and assists with providing program data for IRB accreditation reports.

  • Conducts preliminary assessment and analysis of research related conflicts of interest (COI) disclosures, monitoring plans, and updates. Collects and prepares data from research proposals, technology transfer agreements, contracts, and award documents for review by manager and/or Research Conflict of Interest Committee (RCOIC).

  • Provides guidance and support to faculty, staff, and student investigators regarding federal disclosure requirements of significant financial interests and COI requiring research exemptions under state statutes. Responds to inquiries related to use of COI disclosure system, interpretation of questions, and reviewer comments.

  • Coordinates RCOIC meetings and agendas, records meeting minutes, and maintains official COI records and files. Participates in COI monitoring and training related to research.

  • Tracks compliance with Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) and COI training and communicates training requirements to faculty, students, staff. Maintains training documentation and provides administrative assistance related to use of online RCR and COI training modules in CITI and online plagiarism detection software, iThenticate.

  • Assists in research misconduct (RM) cases. Collects and reviews background information for assessment purposes and prepares and documents investigation materials.

  • Maintains functional knowledge of federal research regulations related to COI, RCR, Human Subjects Research, Research Misconduct and state statutes as they pertain to the areas under the Research Integrity Compliance unit.

  • Assists in creation of and updates to informational materials (brochures, flyers, etc.), website content, and presentations.

  • Assists in the development of or revision to policies and guidance documents established for operational and regulatory processes.

  • Makes recommendations for program areas of improvement and compliance requirements.

  • Participates in professional activities, trainings, national meetings, and seminars.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Research Compliance Integrity Manager or Director.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Schedule may vary as required.

$56,030 to Negotiable

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws relating to conflict of interest, responsible conduct of research, and human subject protections.

  • Experience in an academic compliance setting and/or sponsored research administration.

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • The ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Experience with an electronic research administration system or similar enterprise resource planning system.

  • Proficiency in Excel.
