Job Description:

This position will perform financial operations related to one or more Direct Support Organizations (DSOs) of the University of Central Florida.

DSOs are legally separate, not-for-profit, organizations organized and operated to support the university. They are presented either as blended or discretely presented component units of the university and also issue stand-alone financial statements.

The selected candidates will be employed by the University of Central Florida as a member of the institution’s central office of Financial Affairs and be part of the team that provides accounting and reporting services to multiple DSOs under the leadership of the University’s Chief Financial Officer.

Functional Duties:

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports for senior
  • leadership, DSO Board of Directors, and University Board of Trustees.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate financial analysis of general ledger activity and preparation of
  • supporting work papers and variance analysis.
  • Prepare routine and non-routine journal entries ensuring that each transaction is valid,
  • accurate and properly authorized and recorded in the appropriate period with supporting
  • documentation.
  • Prepare accurate and timely account and Trustee bank account reconciliations.
  • Prepare retail tenant invoices, maintain accounts receivable sub-ledger, monitor receivables
  • balances, and prepare accounts receivable report for management.
  • Review and code invoices appropriately and document the required approvals prior to
  • submitting to the university’s central accounts payable team for payment processing.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of
  • internal controls.
  • Perform accounting research, document conclusions, and assist in the implementation of new
  • accounting rules and regulations.
  • Intercompany accounting between DSOs and other units within the corporation.
  • Other accounting related duties and special projects as assigned and delegated.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The selected candidate will have an accounting or finance degree, financial reporting experience, strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Technical knowledge will include, at a minimum, experience with PeopleSoft or similar ERP accounting systems and related applications, as well as advanced and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
