Job Description:

This position will assist with the day-to-day team operations of the Office of International Collaboration, to include foreign engagement compliance assessments, screening of restricted and denied parties, assisting with the development of technical assistance plans, monitoring, and foreign engagement conflicts of interest disclosures. Position is responsible for institutional compliance with laws and policies related to export control, Visas, and foreign engagements.

Other job responsibilities include:

  • Assist UCF departments by performing foreign engagement compliance assessments; assessing foreign influence risk associated; screening for restricted, denied, prohibited or embargoed parties/entities; assisting with the development of technical assistance and guidance plans and monitoring compliance with such plans.

  • Assist with the foreign engagement reviews of conflicts of interests disclosures and international agreements.

  • Review, assess, process, and issue guidance on foreign engagement and export control requirements for the visas of UCF employees, visiting scholars, students, volunteers and all other foreign persons in support of UCF Policies.

  • Assist with the implementation of policies and procedures related to UCF’s foreign influence process.

  • Conduct training sessions for UCF faculty, staff and students related to foreign engagement activities and cross trains with the export control team.

  • Review regulatory requirements and issue export control and foreign engagement guidance for international travel.

  • Perform basic regulatory research associated with all identified visa types (e.g. types F, J, H, L, O, etc).

  • Assist with compliance risk assessments, internal compliance investigations, and disclosures.

  • Input generated record keeping data into appropriate databases.

  • Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned.

Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Schedule may vary as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in science, engineering, computer science, public policy or law and five years of direct experience in the area of export controls highly preferred.

  • Juris doctorate and five years of direct experience in the area of export controls highly preferred.

  • Experience working in a university setting in sponsored research and/or compliance.

  • Experience understanding complex regulations and applying them in a university setting.

  • Experience conducting investigations.

  • Strong skills in organizing and setting priorities and accomplishing tasks in time-sensitive problem-solving situations.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop training material and to provide individual training as appropriate.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
