Job Description:

This position is responsible for training students to use machines. Operate machine tools to manufacture, engineering/reverse engineer parts. Supports instructional and Senior Design activities of faculty, staff, and students through design/fabrication services. Proficient with Solid Works in modeling and making blueprints. Maintains quality and safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Train students on machines through formal courses.

  • Train students on machines through individual/group requests.

  • Utilize Computer-Aided Design/Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) tools and program CNC utilizing conversational programming on the machine control.

  • Maintenance on all machinery in the training room, notify manager immediately when professional maintenance/repair is required.

  • Assist manager shop manager in orders of machined parts.

  • Verify before the normal academic semester schedule classes that all material, tools and all other supplies are secured for the machining class. Place timely orders for these materials.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Schedule may vary as required.

Expected Salary:

$48,722 to Negotiable

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of an approved machinist apprenticeship program and 2+ years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma and 4+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced designing and/or leading training programs in a machine shop setting.

  • Experience as a machinist operating drilling and milling machines including modern equipment, such as CNC and pertinent software is preferred.

  • Preference to Journeyman Card & Tool and Die Maker.

  • Previous experience in an academic setting is a plus.

  • Preference to an Associate or a Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience.

  • Solidworks Certificate preferred.
