Job Description:

The University of Central Florida (UCF) Center for Distributed Learning (CDL) is seeking an Applications Programmer III to work in a collaborative environment serving the needs of digital learning at UCF.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, code, test, debug, integrate, modify, and document applications in support of digital learning.

  • Assist/architect the user experience design, database, and back-end to support the digital learning application.

  • Analyze and troubleshoot difficult integration problems between digital learning applications and other applications/systems following industry standards such as the LTI standard, etc.

  • Provide end-user support in collaboration with support staff, via faculty development venues, and co-authoring of technical documents.

  • Research, recommend or implement improvements to applications/technologies based on industry standards in support of digital learning.

  • Serve as a liaison between end-users and junior developers and mentor junior developers.

  • Provide necessary data and reports of different supported web-based solutions at the Center for Distributed Learning.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Monday through Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM with opportunity for hybrid work arrangements following university guidelines.

$64,518 to Negotiable

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, engineering management, information systems, or digital media.

  • Experience with all phases of applications programming using front-end, backend, and database technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, PHP, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.

  • Experience with programming frameworks such as Flask, Django, Rails, Symphony, Express, Backbone, React, Angular, and Laravel.

  • Experience developing and deploying applications on Linux/Unix web servers and cloud infrastructures like AWS.

  • Experience developing unit tests and continuous integration practices.

  • Experience with all phases of applications development compliant with industry standards and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.

  • Experience with mentoring, providing documentation, and end-user support.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to participate in multiple projects effectively.
