Job Description:

The laboratory of Dr. Cristina Fernandez-Valle in the Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences, College of Medicine, at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, FL, is currently seeking a postdoctoral scholar. This is a NIH funded postdoctoral position and multiple projects are available to conduct pre-clinical studies on candidate therapeutics for schwannomas related to Neurofibromatosis Type 2 and Schwannomatosis. These genetic tumor predisposition syndromes arise from loss of function of the merlin tumor suppressor. Studies will employ use of cells in high-throughput/content formats, mouse allograft models immunological, molecular and imaging techniques to interrogate efficacy of candidate single and combination drug therapies. Studies are informed by clinical collaborators at multiple institutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Cell and/or Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Cancer Biology, or a related field. Doctoral candidates with a scheduled thesis defense date and a first author publication submitted are also invited to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with a background in cell signaling, strong verbal and written command of the English language, ability to write scientific reports and manuscripts and function in highly diverse environment.
