The Opportunity
The School of Global Health Management and Informatics (SGHMI) at the College of Community Innovation and Education (CCIE) invites applications for a tenure-earning assistant professor or tenured associate professor for the Health Care Informatics programs, anticipated to begin August 2025.
The candidate will join SGHMI, which includes the nation’s largest graduate and undergraduate programs in Health Services Administration (MHA, B.S. HSA), an Executive Graduate Healthcare Management program (eMHA), a fully online graduate program in Healthcare Informatics (M.S. HCI), an undergraduate program in Health Informatics and Information Management (B.S. HIIM), and a new Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics (B.S. HI) launching in Spring 2025. The M.S. HCI is accredited by CAHIIM (Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management), the MHA and baccalaureate in HIIM are accredited by CAHME (Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education) and CAHIIM, respectively and the undergraduate HSA program is certified by AUPHA (Association of University Programs in Health Administration). The position is a 9-month appointment with a competitive salary. The successful candidate will perform research and teaching in the area of healthcare informatics, specifically related to artificial intelligence. Candidates are expected to have extensive experience in cutting edge AI technologies and their applications in healthcare. Interdisciplinary scholarship and grant funding for research are encouraged.
Teaching takes place in both a fully online and face to face format. Candidates are expected to be comfortable teaching and creating course work in both modalities. UCF has world renowned infrastructure and support for online teaching.
Minimum Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in health care informatics, biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, health services administration, or a related health discipline from an accredited institution and industry or academic experience in research related to artificial intelligence applications in health care; or
A doctoral degree in management information systems, applied science, computer science, computer engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related information technology discipline from an accredited institution and industry or academic experience in research related to artificial intelligence applications in health care.
For the Rank of Assistant Professor:
The successful candidate must have a terminal degree from an accredited institution (as indicated above) by the start of the appointment. ABD's will be considered if the degree is conferred before the date of hire.
For the Rank of Associate Professor:
The successful candidate must have a distinguished record of scholarly achievement, documented research, externally funded projects/research, and excellence in teaching.
To be eligible for appointment as a tenured associate professor upon hire, the selected candidate must have a demonstrated record teaching, research, and service commensurate with a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of associate professor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Early-, mid-stage, or established investigators with expertise in artificial intelligence application in health care provision, including large language model, biomedical data processing, and data analysis.
Candidates with extensive background in technology management with a deep understanding of emerging tech such as AI, blockchain, quantum computing, Internet of Things (IoT), and other disruptive technologies in healthcare.
Candidates with demonstrated success in publishing high-quality research articles in top-tier international and national refereed journals or those who have completed a post-doc with an associated record of publication in the preferred research areas.
Candidates actively engaged with various health informatics societies such as AMIA and HIMSS.
