The Opportunity
The Department of Psychology in the College of Sciences (COS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for one full-time, 9-month, tenure track assistant professor position, anticipated to begin in August 2025. We seek dedicated and collegial educators/scientists whose work closely integrates theory and application and who can establish collaborative relationships within the department/college as well as with other colleges at the university (e.g., Business, Medicine, Health and Public Affairs, Hospitality), and with organizations in the surrounding area. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in different modalities, including face-to-face and online.
Additionally, we are especially interested in a candidate who can contribute through their research, teaching, and services to the excellence of our academics and foster an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.
The Department of Psychology at UCF has three areas of emphasis: clinical psychology, human factors psychology, and industrial and organizational psychology. All members of the department share a common goal, which is reflected in their teaching and research: understanding behavior through empirical investigation. The Psychology Department has over 50 full-time faculty, over 4,500 undergraduate majors, two master's programs including I/O Psychology and Clinical Psychology, and three doctoral programs including I/O Psychology, Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology, and Clinical Psychology. Faculty from the I/O Program lead and contribute to multidisciplinary translational research centers, including the NIOSH-Sponsored Targeted Research Training Program, IMMERSE, and the NIMH-funded Implementation Science and Team Effectiveness in Practice (IN STEP) Children’s Mental Health Research Center. For more information about the department, visit https://sciences.ucf.edu/psychology/.
Our Ph.D. program develops I/O professionals who have the skills to conduct research that is both theory-based and problem-focused. Our graduates are currently placed in academic positions (e.g., Clemson, Johns Hopkins, Georgia Tech, Boston University), in organizations (e.g., Google, Disney, APTMetrics, JetBlue University, IBM), in government (e.g., Navy, Army, NASA, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention), and in university research positions (e.g., Virginia Commonwealth School of Medicine, Rutgers Career Development Center). Our M.S. program is dedicated to developing I/O professionals who have the skills to create and manage evidence-based solutions to organizational challenges. Our undergraduate program offers several classes in I/O psychology, social/personality, and measurement. Current I/O faculty expertise includes occupational health psychology, resilience, AI & selection, team performance, technology and the changing nature of work, organizational citizenship behavior, counterproductive work behavior, organizational climate, and psychometrics.
