UCF Downtown brings thousands of students to live, learn and work in downtown Orlando. The downtown campus opened in August 2019 which kicked-started Orlando’s public-private Creative Village. The downtown strives to increase access for students, provide pathways into high-demand career fields, foster collaboration with our neighbors in meaningful ways to improve lives through the power of education.

The Opportunity:

UCF Downtown seeks applications for a Campus Experience Coordinator. This position supports UCF‑led events and engagement initiatives, strengthens partnerships that reflect the university’s values, and contributes to the smooth daily operations of the Downtown campus. Core responsibilities include coordinating and scheduling community and campus engagement events, planning UCF Downtown Signature Events, supporting committees and partnership activities, assisting with communications and marketing efforts that highlight UCF Downtown’s impact, and helping prepare measures that assess engagement and operational effectiveness. This role also helps connect UCF students with meaningful opportunities by building relationships with community organizations and creating pathways for student involvement beyond the classroom.

We seek candidates who are collaborative and service‑minded, enjoy building partnerships, telling stories through campus events, and creating meaningful experiences for students, staff, and community partners. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, tech‑savvy, flexible, and excited to represent UCF Downtown.

Classification Title: Event Coordinator

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with and coordinate the scheduling and planning of all community engagement events for UCF Downtown, coordinating efforts with campus stakeholders, providing campus tours for community groups and outside organizations.

  • Develop and identify potential opportunities for UCF Downtown faculty, staff, and students to participate in public, private and non-profit organizations to support the development and expansion of partnerships that support the University's strategic plan and metrics.

  • Coordinate community engaged committee work on campus by serving as staff support for the Downtown Campus Community Engagement committee and campus community councils.

  • Collaborate with CCIE, CHPS, CBA, CAH and COS to identify and implement a community engagement plan with external and internal audiences. Synthesize the strategies that reflect the UCF Downtown mission, vision and goals.

  • Write and edit content for the UCF Downtown website (including updating when necessary), event listings, all social media posts, digital communications, media alerts/press releases, flyers, photos, videos, and other collateral.  Collaborate with other UCF Downtown leadership to prioritize strategic goals for communication.

  • Provide support to Director of Campus Operations by supporting operational efforts, updating emergency plans and other operational documents. Creating documentation to support the effort of improving operational efficiency for downtown campus patrons.

  • Provide administrative assistance when needed, such as: maintaining and updating databases, tracking expenditures and coordinating projects with third-party contractors, and assisting outside organizations with use of campus spaces.

  • Prepares measures for evaluating the community engagement and operational effectiveness of UCF Downtown.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in hospitality, customer service, or other guest focused environments where relationship building and service excellence are central.

  • Experience in event operations in a higher education, nonprofit, or community setting.

  • Experience in marketing, outreach, or community engagement, including working with campus or community partners.

  • Experience tracking program, event, or engagement metrics or contributing to reports that evaluate effectiveness or outcomes.

  • Basic graphic design skills using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • Experience with social media marketing on behalf of an organization.

  • Comfort with event or operational technology, including AV troubleshooting or event setup support.
