The Opportunity  

The School of Performing Arts (SPA) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking a 9-month, non-­tenure earning lecturer with a specialty in Theater for Young Audiences to teach in the Theater Department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching 8 graduate and undergraduate classes per academic year, potentially including on-line classes. The position is located at the UCF main campus and is anticipated to start in August 2026.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Terminal degree in theater from an accredited institution at the time of hire. 

  • At least one year of teaching experience in a university setting; graduate assistantships are also acceptable. 

  • Experience in Theater for Young Audiences field.

  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MFA in Theater with a specialization in Theater for Young Audiences from an accredited institution.

  • Two years of college teaching experience or professional theater experience with teaching components. 

  • Experience with applied theater, including.

  • Experience creating theater with vulnerable populations.

  • Experience with devised theater. 

  • Experience with improvisation. 

  • Experience with touring productions. 

  • Experience with play writing (including musicals).
