Research Technician (TEMP)

The Opportunity:

The Research Technician is a new part-time research-based lab technician position and is available in Dr. Sarute Lab at the UCF Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences at the Lake Nona campus starting January 2025. The Sarute lab focuses on virus entry and immune responses to viral infections. The selected candidate will use human and mouse cell lines, as well as primary cells, to analyze the role of host proteins in the antiviral response against emerging arboviruses.

Responsibilities:

• Perform cell and molecular biology and virology techniques.

• Oversee lab supplies and routine equipment maintenance.

• When established, maintain the mouse colony in an effective way.

• Report your work directly to Dr. Sarute and other issues relevant to the lab operation.

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 1+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or related fields.

• Experience in a BSL-2 laboratory setting.

• Experience in Cell and Molecular biology and virology techniques.

• Experience in mouse handling.
