The Opportunity:
The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) Department at the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is searching for an Academic Program Coordinator III. The individual selected for the position will develop, administer, or support programs that enhance the learning environment for students or faculty development. They provide services and support for operations of academic programs. They assists full-time and part-time faculty and other stakeholders to enhance the learning and teaching environment. The role involves close collaboration with MAE faculty and the College's Office of Academic Affairs.
Responsibilities:
Act as liaison between CECS Undergraduate Affairs, the MAE Department, and students to resolve academic issues (e.g., course substitutions, overrides, degree audits, complaints, and grievances) critical to timely graduation.
Coordinate undergraduate academic program planning, implementation, evaluation, and ABET accreditation.
Make curriculum and course revisions, and catalog updates primarily for undergraduate programs while providing technical support for graduate programs.
Track course enrollments, recommend section changes, and monitor student permissions to ensure course availability and degree progress.
Support academic scheduling, teaching assignments, and hiring of instructors, adjuncts, and undergraduate TAs/LAs; manage teaching space allocations.
Apply academic policies and ensure compliance with university, state, and accreditation standards.
Facilitate student and faculty engagement through orientations, workshops, recruitment events, and informational sessions.
Maintain program documentation such as curriculum maps, course offerings, and assessment reports.
Recommend improvements to academic support services and policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three or more years of professional experience in the education sector.
Experience working with complex course and program scheduling.
Experience with and knowledge about ABET accreditation processes.
Evidence of strong communication skills both written and verbal.
Experience using pertinent software platforms, such as Kuali.
