UCF IT - Our Departments

ENTERPRISE APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT

Enterprise Application Development (EAD) handles the development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise computer programs and data processing applications for the University's administration and academic departments.

ENTERPRISE SYSTEM AND OPERATIONS

Enterprise Systems and Operations (ESO) manages all server system resources housed in the College of Sciences Building (CSB) Data Center. They are tasked with ensuring a secure and stable computing environment for the campus.

STRATEGY AND PLANNING

The Strategy and Planning department drives organizational, programmatic, and operational transformation across the department to maximize IT performance. Their role includes facilitating the IT strategic planning process within UCF IT and with University leadership.

SUPPORT SERVICES

UCF's Support Services group combines specialized units to boost the university's tech offerings. The Technology Commons has advanced computer labs, the Technology Product Center provides discounted tech products, and the Technology Service Center offers expert device repair. The UCF IT Support Center is the go-to for IT assistance, ensuring top-notch customer service. Together, they create a comprehensive support system for the UCF community's tech needs.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

The UCF IT Telecommunications department serves as the technological backbone of the university. Their responsibilities include designing, installing, supporting, and securing telecommunications and network infrastructure for the entire UCF community.

Law Enforcement Officer

Base Pay: $55,018.80

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must meet the requirement of Chapter 943, Florida Statutes. Successful completion of Florida Law Enforcement Academy, received a passing score on the Florida State Law Enforcement Exam.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Must not have been convicted of any felony
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor involving moral character, perjury, false statements or domestic violence
  • No pending criminal charges
  • Must not have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States
  • Must have a Florida driver’s license prior to employment
  • Successfully complete FDLE Physical Abilities Test (PAT)
  • Must pass a vigorous background investigation, to include psychological, physical, drug testing, and Computer Voice Stress Analysis

Police Dispatcher I

Base Pay: $40,000

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience, education, and/or training.
  • Must receive National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) certifications provided by UCF Police within six months of employment.
  • Successful completion of an appropriate 9-1-1 emergency dispatcher training that meets the requirements of current Department of Health Public Safety Telecommunicator course provided by UCF Police must be obtained within the first six months of employment. Certification must be maintained once complete.
  • Preferences:

    • Ability to organize, prioritize and reach closure on multi-functional tasks.
    • Ability to learn varied technical tasks readily and adhere to prescribed rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
    • Ability to work efficiently in a stressful environment.
    • Ability to discern emergency from non-emergency situations under time constraints.
    • Ability to make decisions and function effectively in high stress emergency situations.
    • Ability to maintain security and confidentiality.

Police Dispatcher II

Base Pay: $42,000

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience, education, and/or training.
  • Must receive National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) certifications provided by UCF Police within six months of employment.
  • Successful completion of an appropriate 9-1-1 emergency dispatcher training that meets the requirements of current Department of Health Public Safety Telecommunicator course provided by UCF Police must be obtained within the first six months of employment. Certification must be maintained once complete.
  • Preferences:

    • Knowledge of multi-line telephone system, radio, and other computer equipment, and its operation.
    • Knowledge of jurisdiction geography, University geography, and associated landmarks.
    • Knowledge of all equipment and resources available for processing both non-emergency and emergency requests.
    • Knowledge of the appropriate ways of dealing with individuals in crisis situations.
    • Knowledge of public records laws and dissemination of records information relating to students and law enforcement.
