Academic Support Coordinator I (TEMP)

The Opportunity:

The Academic Support Coordinator I will play a pivotal role in Student Support Services for the Biology department, ensuring students have the resources and support they need to excel academically. This role will report to the Biology Department Chair, and will develop and implement comprehensive support initiatives, while actively engaging with current students, faculty, and staff to cultivate a thriving program community.

Responsibilities:

• Develops, administers, or supports programs that enhance the learning environment for students or faculty development. Provides services and support for operations of academic programs.
• Develop, coordinate and maintain the academic master schedule of courses. Work closely with faculty on course needs and issues regarding each semester classroom schedule day and time to manage. Assign classroom space across campus. Facilitate curriculum and catalog changes for new course submission and course revisions in the Kuali system.
• Responsible for updates of courses, GTA, and TA assignments in the PeopleSoft system and assisting the department administrators in resolving registration issues related to PeopleSoft and the course scheduling system. Maintain confidential student files and academic records for Undergraduate and Graduate students.
• Facilitate handling of administrative reporting needs for the Chair, Associate Chair, Undergraduate Coordinator, and Graduate Coordinator. Assist the Undergraduate Coordinator with the annual assessment done for the Institutional Effectiveness Report
• Serve as liaison to other campus Departments/College of sciences for the Undergraduate Biology program, serve on appropriate committees, and participate in special College events, i.e. MyBiologyDay.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with UCF scheduling software system, Kuali.
• Experience in higher education.
