Florida Space Institute:

The Florida Space Institute (FSI) supports space research, development, and education activities. Since 1996, FSI has been an institute of the State University System of Florida. FSI is made up of researchers, educators, and staff from member universities in Florida. FSI research ranges from studying the Earth’s upper atmosphere to the origin of the planets and from the workings of asteroids to propulsion technologies for high-Mach aerospace vehicles. Additionally, FSI is involved in space missions to include rocket launches, suborbital flights, the NASA Cassini mission to Saturn, and NASA’s Explorer program.

The Opportunity:

The Administrative Coordinator II is responsible for greeting and assisting staff, students, and visitors with their concerns, as well as assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Florida Space Institute (FSI) office.


Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the day-to-day operations of Floria Space Institute (FSI).

  • Assisting Floria Space Institute (FSI) faculty with their calendars, emails, and questions. 

  • First point of contact for visitors.

  • Helping with running of survey, questionnaires, and reports. 

  • Assisting with setting up conference rooms for meetings, seminars etc.

  • Reviewing and updating the office manual.

  • Keeping email lists updated.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year experience in administrative support, customer service, receptionist, or similar role preferably within a research environment.

  • Proficiency with standard office support software including Microsoft Office with the ability to create and maintain databases.

  • Expertise with digital file administration and calendar management.

  • Capable of functioning effectively in deadline driven, demanding situations.

  • Prior experience in a customer service role defusing tension, interacting professionally, and providing courteous responses to inquiries

  • Previous exposure to assisting students with inquiries and requests for assistance.
