Student Success and Well-Being Office of Career Services:

Career Services provides comprehensive career services and programs to assist a multi-faceted student population in developing and implementing career, education, and employment plans through collaborative internal partnerships with UCF administrators, faculty and staff, as well as effective external partnerships with key employers.

This position/classification may be moved at management's discretion within the SSWB division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Success and Well Being or his/her designee.

The Opportunity:

UCF’s Student Success and Well-Being Office of Career Services is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Director, Career Services. This position provides leadership, professional expertise, and direction in planning and executing career services events and functions. This role is responsible for coordinating major career expos, specialized events, career panels, conferences, receptions, and college-specific events, ensuring seamless execution and optimal engagement. The Assistant Director manages event logistics, supervises staff, and ensures compliance with university policies and financial regulations.

This is an Auxiliary-funded position. Employment is subject to the availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:

Event Planning and Management:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of career services events.

  • Oversee logistics, including site selection, vendor coordination, facility contract negotiation, event specifications, and attendee registration.

  • Ensure events align with university policies and procedures.

  • Direct approximately 30 staff and volunteers at major events.

  • Manage marketing, publicity, student outreach, and employer outreach for events.

  • Oversee event information updates on the Career Services website.

  • Process registrations, invoices, payments, refunds, etc. for Career Services events.

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Supervise one full-time Employee Relations Coordinator and multiple student assistants.

  • Provide performance evaluations, training, and coaching to enhance team effectiveness.

Financial and Administrative Oversight:

  • Oversee the appropriate use of event budgets from $100- $50,000 in expenditures.

  • Develop and maintain financial controls, compliance measures, and systematic goal-setting processes.

  • Interpret and implement university policies related to financial and event management.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Relationship Management:

  • Work with faculty, staff, employer relations liaisons, and external partners to strengthen employer engagement.

  • Ensure career services priorities align with university and Student Success and Well Being Services (SSWB) initiatives.

  • Coordinate with partner offices to plan, execute, and evaluate Career Fairs.

Assessment and Strategic Planning:

  • Conduct pre- and post-event analysis using quantitative and qualitative methods.

  • Develop electronic survey questionnaires to measure event success, attendance, and employer/student satisfaction.

  • Generate reports for strategic planning and continuous improvement.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Serve on various committees as needed.

  • Assist the Associate Director, Employer Relations, and Director, Career Services in developing and implementing employer relations strategies.

  • Perform other related duties as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's and 4+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience with at least 1+ year(s) of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ months experience with career services; can include experience as a working professional, graduate student, or other experience.

  • Experience developing career programs, with aptitude for developing a new program, including marketing, planning and implementing new programs and projects.

  • Experience using technology to gather data and generate reports as well as technology specific to career programs.

  • Skill or aptitude for developing recruiting relationships.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Proven communication skills, particularly with varied population groups, including faculty, employers, and students.

  • Record of working independently and with self-directed teams.
