Office of Student Financial Assistance:

The Office of Student Financial Assistance, a unit within Student Success and Well-Being (SSWB), is dedicated to supporting UCF's mission and goals through the efficient delivery of student aid. The Office provides UCF students with a comprehensive offering of financial assistance options to support student success and the attainment of a university degree.

The Opportunity:

The Assistant Director, Financial Aid plays a pivotal role in UCF's mission by administering federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs — ensuring regulatory compliance while supporting student enrollment, progression, and degree completion. In this role, the Assistant Director serves as the lead for student loans and student employment.

This position may be reassigned within the SSWB division to a commensurate level, as determined by the Vice President of Student Success and Well-Being or designee.

Responsibilities:

Program Management & Administration:

  • Responsible for the coordination and administration of Student Loan Programs and Student Employment.

  • Primary emphasis of position is program management, ensuring all aspects of student loan and student employment portfolios are managed in compliance with regulatory guidance.

  • Oversees the administration of federal and private educational loans and the Federal Work-Study Program.

  • Assists in the review and processing of aggregate, proration, and over award, ensuring that awards are in compliance with all rules and regulations.

Leadership & Supervision:

  • Serves on the Office of Student Financial Assistance Management/Administration team and provides leadership and guidance to the Loan and Student Employment teams.

  • Supervises full-time staff responsible for the review and management of student loans and student employment.

Strategic Planning & Advisory:

  • Participates as a member of the management team, contributing to strategic decision making.

  • Supports the Director by providing counsel on compliance matters and contributing to strategic planning initiatives.

  • Serves as a resource to the Director and senior leadership on matters related to student loans and student employment.

Compliance & Policy:

  • Develops and maintains loans and Federal Work-Study policies, procedures, and documentation to support program integrity and compliance.

  • Addresses escalated issues related to loans or student employment.

Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to address loan and student employment matters.

Data Management & Analysis:

  • Compiles, analyzes, and maintains data for decision-making purposes.

  • Supplies information pertaining to data requests.

  • Compiles, analyzes, and maintains queries and data.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's and 4+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 2+ years of relevant experience with at least 1+ year(s) of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive financial aid experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data entry, organization, and reporting.

  • Experience with Workday and PeopleSoft Oracle

  • Familiarity with federal systems Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)

The most successful candidates may possess the following qualities:

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations

  • Basic computer proficiency, including accurate and efficient typing skills.

  • Ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships across teams and levels.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders at all levels, including faculty, staff, and students.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess situations, evaluate alternatives, and apply logic to develop thoughtful, effective solutions.

  • Understanding of financial aid regulations and program management.

  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on communication, problem-solving, and positive experiences.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $56,030- $69,500. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

  • Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.

  • All applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and the university cannot accommodate H‑1B transfers or employment-based visa processing for individuals currently sponsored by another employer.
