The Opportunity:
The University of Central Florida is currently accepting applications for the role of Associate Director, Academic Success Coach for the College of Sciences. The Associate Director is responsible for supporting the Director and managing overall office operations. Working with the Director, the Associate Director makes data-informed decisions, delivers high-quality programs and services, and addresses barriers that may prevent success. The Associate Director leads a team of Academic Success Coaches (ASC) and is responsible for onboarding, training, mentoring, evaluating as well as general supervision. The Associate Director helps to ensure that proper coaching techniques are applied by the ASCs and that performance and expectations of their team is met. The Associate Director will be assigned a case load of students, meeting with each student to build ongoing coaching relationships, use enhanced coaching and advising methodologies to: provide early integration, conduct academic planning, develop individualized academic success plans, offer ongoing coaching support, monitor student success over time, track timely degree progression, and promote student goal completion. While working collaboratively across campus with teams of academic colleges and student services partners, the Associate Director must be knowledgeable in all aspects of the student experience to include enrollment, degree requirements, student coaching, student services, retention, graduation, and overall success.
This is a full-time, 12-month position. Due to the nature of the work, this is not a fully remote position, and remote (hybrid) work of any kind may not be guaranteed or may be altered as needed. UCF's Coaching Model: The Associate Director, Academic Success Coach (ASC) role is a newly created exciting position that combines academic advising and academic coaching. The Associate Director will be assigned to the College of Sciences, reporting to the Director of the College of Sciences Academic Success Coaching, Student Success and Well Being.
Responsibilities:
Assist in developing and implementing college/department goals and strategies as a senior professional in academic advising, coaching, transition programming and orientation, enrollment, retention, persistence, progression, and graduation.
Support Director and assistant with managing overall office operations.
Lead in-unit committees as needed (e.g., training, orientation, outreach).
Act in behalf of the Director in certain circumstances in her absence.
Supervise/lead a team of Academic Success Coaches; includes onboarding, training, mentoring, and evaluation.
Maintain a case load/roster of students and use the customer relationship management system (CRM) of MyKnightStar to track and monitor both engagements and ongoing progress and success of their students.
Support student retention and graduation initiatives.
Monitor student progress and performance, analyze problem areas, determine solutions, and conduct intervention activities for students when needed.
Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities to function autonomously as an Academic Success Coach (ASC) for relevant college programs and/or student populations.
Serve as appointed representative to the academic college.
Facilitate college-specific programs, activities, and functions that enhance student success; implement strategies on behalf of the college to increase registration and enrollment, timely graduation, and track outcomes.
Assist the Director with developing and coordinating college-based outreach, orientation, and ongoing engagement programming. This may include open houses, welcome expos, major fairs, community and state college events for prospective students, or workshops for current students. Support FTIC and Transfer Orientation programs and assist with providing direction and execution of orientation programming activities.
Function in a supervisory capacity for the Academic Success Coach (ASC) teams; under the direction of the Director.
Offer expertise and support in areas of student escalations, including specialty cases and high need cases (i.e.: probation, at risk, readmission, students of concern, etc.).
Serves as subject matter expert coaching/provides guidance to coaching staff on complex situations as needed.
Apply and maintain Quality Assurance standards at the direction of the Director; listen to phone calls, observe coaching sessions, review for areas of improvement, and work with coaches to close gaps, or to make refinements, as needed. Help to develop new areas for process improvements for the team, office, and work with students.
Analyze data to ensure data-informed decisions support retention, persistence, and graduation metrics. Assist the Assistant Directors with compiling various reports that support Academic Success Coaching. Assist the Assistant Directors with assessing staff use of technologies, tools, and dashboards.
Complete initial and ongoing training and participate in professional development programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience with at least 2+ years of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Experience:
Experience in education, with a preference for experience in higher education.
Experience in coaching, with a preference for experience in student coaching.
Experience as a supervisor of multiple employees, including hiring, onboarding, training, and assessment of job performance.
Experience in managing event participation.
Experience in managing processes and/or programs.
Experience in and/or understanding of case management.
Experience in and/or understanding of customer service.
Experience with using a CRM to case manage/track student, client, or customer interactions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., MS Word and Excel) and desktop agent software (e.g., MS TEAMS).
Experience with degree audit and degree planning tools.
