The Center for Community Schools housed within the College of Community Innovation and Education at the University of Central Florida is a practice-based organization that provides community school technical assistance, university-assisted partnerships, training and development, and assessment and evaluation.
The Opportunity:
The UCF Center for Community Schools in the College of Community Innovation and Education is currently accepting applications for a Communications Specialist II. This role will oversee the communications, marketing, and engagement for the UCF Center for Community Schools. The position will coordinate information, publications services, and community school strategies particularly focusing on increasing the visibility of the Center by identifying, writing, and disseminating (through various platforms) compelling stories and images (photography) about the Center's work.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate the communications, marketing, and stakeholder experience efforts within the Center for Community Schools.
Leverage strong writing and editing skills to develop clear, compelling, and strategic messaging that aligns with organizational goals.
Develop and execute strategic communications plans, events, print and media marketing, web and video content, and stakeholder engagement.
Lead high-level communication initiatives, ensuring consistency across channels while optimizing content for various audiences.
Deliver professional graphic design content; Produce branded content, social media postings, web content, videos, and event materials.
Ensure all online and digital information is up to date and develop new content where necessary.
Manage, monitor, maintain, and analyze Center social media networks.
Work with external partners involved in the process of producing and delivering creative communications focused on Center's community school initiatives.
Engage with community school sites-students, staff, families, and stakeholders-to identify potential stories.
Write and develop Center newsletter and other e-newsletters.
Research social media trends, tools, and applications, and implement when appropriate.
Research, interview, and prepare communication materials for articles, web copy, social media posts, event promotions, newsletters, publications, promotional materials, and videos to promote the work of the Center.
Design and create informational toolkits, playbooks, brand guidelines, and templates for research, Center activities, and externally funded projects.
Maintain database of Center community school partners, facts, and impact data.
Support Center leadership in legislative communications, reports, talking points, and other communications and marketing strategies.
Collaborate with leadership to craft key narratives, speeches, and reports.
Coordinate execution by delegating tasks to interns or supporting staff, ensuring efficiency in content creation, social media management, and other communication efforts.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong writing and editing skills with experience in creating content for various audiences and platforms.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience managing social media accounts and developing digital content strategies.
Basic graphic design skills using Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Canva, etc.
Strategic thinking with the ability to align messaging with organizational goals.
