The Opportunity:
The Credentialing Assistant ensures accurate and timely verification of healthcare providers' qualifications, licenses, certifications, and background checks. Responsibilities include data entry, document management, communication with healthcare professionals, and administrative support. This role is crucial for maintaining regulatory compliance and ensuring healthcare providers meet the necessary standards for quality academic instruction.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the processing of applications for medical staff credentialing and re-credentialing, ensuring all necessary documentation is obtained and complete.
Verify the accuracy and completeness of provider credentials, including licensure, certifications, education, training, and work history.
Communicate with healthcare professionals, educational institutions, and licensing boards to request and verify credentials.
Maintain detailed and organized electronic records of all credentialing documentation, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
Support the creation and maintenance of provider profiles within the credentialing software system.
Ensure timely submission of provider information to insurance companies, hospitals, and other third-party organizations for contract approval and network participation.
Coordinate with internal departments, such as human resources, legal, and compliance, to resolve credentialing-related issues.
Assist with tracking expiration dates for licenses, certifications, and other credentials, and notify providers of upcoming renewals.
Prepare and generate reports regarding credentialing status, trends, and compliance for internal and external stakeholders.
Participate in audits and assist with corrective actions.
Assist the Administrator, Faculty Affairs with other administrative tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
2+ years of experience in credentialing, medical staff services, or a related administrative field (healthcare experience preferred).
Knowledge of healthcare regulations, credentialing standards, and industry best practices.
Familiarity with database systems (e.g., PeopleSoft/Workday) preferred.
Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of professionals.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Microsoft Teams.

Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
