Analytics and Integrated Planning:
The Analytics and Integrated Planning (AIP) division brings expertise in strategic planning, advanced data analysis, data reporting, and institutional research with the explicit purpose of leveraging institutional data to enable robust decision making across the university.
AIP partners with university colleges, departments, and other areas to coordinate analytic activities and discover insights in support of university goals. These partnerships serve to improve UCF’s analysis capabilities and infrastructure.
The Opportunity:
Analytics and Integrated Planning is seeking an experienced data scientist to join our team. The Enterprise Data Scientist II conducts in-depth statistical analysis using machine learning techniques, including data wrangling, data mining, and using data analysis methodologies to identify trends and forecast outcomes. This position will conduct analyses of data from varied areas of the university (student success, financial, research, and human resources). The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong knowledge of applied statistics and proficiency in machine learning techniques.
Responsibilities:
Builds machine learning models or algorithms to forecast outcomes.
Devises and utilizes algorithms and models to mine data; performs data and error analysis to improve models; validates data and model outcomes for uniformity and accuracy.
Deploys complex statistical analysis to identify trends and critical factors.
Cleans, processes, and transforms data to prepare it for analysis and modeling.
Creates and maintains detailed documentation of processes, and methodologies.
Creates technical narrative summaries of statistical analysis and findings and enhances findings through data visualization.
Participates in requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders to understand the purpose behind the research questions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred experience and technical skills:
Demonstrated ability in Python.
Experience with Azure Machine Learning or similar platforms.
4+ years’ experience in data science.
Extensive knowledge of applied statistics.

Agile, versatile, flexible, and able to adapt to evolving priorities.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects with attention to detail in a deadline-oriented environment.

Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

This position allows for a hybrid work environment; employees are required to work in the office at least one day a week.
