Student Health Services – Health Information Management (HIM):
UCF Health - Student Health Services (SHS) provides various primary and specialty care services to help keep students, faculty and staff at their optimum health. The Health Center is located on the Main Campus, and satellite clinics are located at the Health Sciences and Downtown campuses. The Opportunity:
Th Health Informatics Manager reports to the Director of Healthcare Compliance and Operations, the Health Informatics Manager serves as the SHS HIPAA Security Officer. Ensures the integrity of medical records, compliance to the Board of Governors’ requirements for International Insurance and Immunization.
Responsibilities:
Administers ongoing activities to audit and monitor employee and vendor compliance with HIPAA policies and procedures, contractual obligations, individual privacy rights, and federal and state privacy and security regulations.
Responsible for implementing, managing, training, and enforcing information security directives as mandated by HIPAA/HITECH.
Ensures the ongoing integration of information privacy and security with SHS strategies and requirements.
Provides and maintains HIPAA contracts with Business Associates Agreements.
Ensures “minimum necessary” access control, disaster recovery, business continuity, breach reporting, and incident response needs for the organization.
Performs ongoing information risk assessments/audits, details audit results, and prepares corrective/preventative actions and recommendations for compliance program improvement.
Directly responsible for and supervises the daily operations and oversight of this area. Performs various HR functions to include interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, performance appraisals, reviews, performance monitoring, and corrective action departmental positions.
Works collaboratively with clinical staff and organizational leadership to maintain quality control of patient electronic medical records (EMR) by reviewing for clarity, proper sign off, and completeness by providers.
Actively participates on various committees aimed at process improvement, system testing/security, report building, and data integrity.
Serves as an internal consultant on HIM issues that include release of information, confidentiality, information security, information storage and retrieval, and record retention as well as authorship and authentication.
Identifies problems, tracks trends, and initiates actions to improve and meet departmental standards.
Provides oversight to the International Insurance Specialist and the Immunization and International Insurance department.
Provides oversight to Referrals Coordinator and Referrals department.
Manages departmental budget for HIM, Immunization and International Insurance and Referrals department.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director Healthcare Compliance and Operations or designee.
Timely completion of all university, AHSC, and SHS trainings.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor or Masters degree in Health Information Technology.
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Credentials.
Health Information Management/Immunization Requirements experience.
Knowledge of HIPAA policies and procedures, contractual obligations, individual privacy rights, and federal and state privacy and security regulations knowledge.
Ability to communicate and work alongside clinic staff, students, patients, and visitors effectively and professionally.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, keen attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience working with the electronic medical records platform, eClinicalWorks, and the platform system PowerDMS.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,518- $72,583. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
