The Opportunity:

UCF IT is seeking an IT Project Manager I to assist in planning, coordinating, and executing small to medium-sized IT projects, as well as well-defined components of larger initiatives. This role supports cross-functional teams, manages schedules, tracks progress, and facilitates communication. It is designed as an early-career position to build depth and experience in IT project delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain project schedules using Gantt charts and timelines; track task progression.

  • Coordinate resources, team assignments, and dependencies as directed.

  • Monitor project progress and assist in identifying, reporting, and escalating risks, issues, and changes.

  • Maintain project documentation, including status reports, meeting minutes, action items, and change logs.

  • Facilitate project meetings, stand-ups, and stakeholder updates to ensure clear communication across teams.

  • Engage with internal teams (development, QA, operations) to help drive tasks to completion.

  • Support project initiation by assisting with project charters, requirements gathering, and scope definition.

  • Help manage project tools and templates, ensuring adherence to PMO standards.

  • Provide coordination support for PMO processes and contribute to process improvements.

  • Collaborate with senior project managers to ensure continuity and alignment with larger program goals.

  • Participate in lessons learned and post-project reviews; recommend improvements.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience in project coordination, support, or related IT/technology roles.

  • Basic understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC), project management principles, and tools.

  • Proficiency in MS Office tools and familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, MS Project).

  • Familiarity using AI tools in project management.

  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum teams or foundation-level certification such as CAPM, Scrum Master, or Agile fundamentals.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

The anticipated salary for this position will fall in the range of $65,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
