Hitt Library Circulation Services department supports the academic needs of the UCF community by providing access to study rooms, reserve materials, and over 1.5 million print volumes among other resources. The Opportunity

The University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries seeks an energetic and proactive full-time Library Technical Assistant for the Circulation Department’s Night Unit. This position will report to the Library Technical Supervisor and will play a crucial role in supporting, expanding, and implementing solutions to enhance the customer service experience at UCF libraries. Effective communication and collaborative work ethic is expected.

The Library Technical Assistant I is pivotal in fostering a welcoming work environment for student employees and guests of the library. They will jointly manage the Circulation desk and Holds Shelf; serving to enhance the experience of researchers accessing the resources the library offers.

Responsibilities:

  • Jointly in charge of the operation of the Circulation Desk in the evenings Sunday-Thursday.

  • Oversees circulation of library materials specifically Holds and Recalls.

  • Accountable for the interpretation and implementation of library circulation policies and procedures, problem solving and ensuring satisfactory customer service.

  • Communicate effectively with team and management regarding department operations.

  • Executes clerical duties thoughtfully and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a library or related environment.

  • Previous customer service and/or retail experience.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic computer troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Ability to work independently with confidence.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

This position is eligible for 5% Shift Differential Pay of the pay range minimum.
