CREOL, the College of Optics and Photonics offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Optics and Photonics and a B.S. degree in Photonic Science and Engineering. The faculty engages in a broad spectrum of research covering all areas of optics and photonics, ranging from fundamental physics to device and systems research. The college has 35 core faculty members, over 19 faculty members with joint appointments, about 60 research scientists and postdoctoral fellows, over 130 graduate students, and 170 undergraduate students. The Opportunity:
Manager, Information Technology I is responsible for managing the Information Technology (IT) for CREOL, College of Optics and Photonics. It is essential to all academic, administrative and research operations. This position serves as liaison with central university IT and makes decisions on software usage and recommendations. The position is also responsible for setting up network infrastructure and controls network accessibility, as well as developing and managing CREOL's website.
Responsibilities:
Manage, maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot CREOL file server, CREOL Web Server and License servers. Budgetary authority for certain college IT purchases as well as contract & grants purchases.
Manage CREOL website. Develop the website, add web pages, update and organize content using Wordpress. This would also include maintaining the college's intranet and associated databases with ASP.NET and MSSQL.
Maintain the operating systems on general use classroom computers. This would include, but not limited to, installing and updating specialized software as needed by instructors, troubleshoot multimedia equipment, coordinate with repairs OIR, knowledge of Zoom, and Microsoft Teams to aid with classroom and meeting delivery techniques.
Represent the College as the IT Liaison. This would include attending the monthly CITC meetings and other IT-related meetings as needed. Coordinate Shared Services with UCF IT to include reviewing and updating current services as needed. Perform Security Coordinator functions such as following up on malware reports. Liaise with Campus Security and University Audit.
Responsible for Access control. Grant and revoke access to resources, such as computers, file shares and websites, using Active Directory users and groups.
Oversee end user support for CREOL faculty, staff, scientists and students. Includes the recommendation, installation, troubleshooting and repair of IT related hardware and software. Manage loaner laptops (16) that were purchased with Tech Fee money. Submits Tech Fee proposals on behalf of the college as needs arise.
Negotiate and manage the purchase of new licenses and payment maintenance on existing software licenses (i.e. COMSOL). This would include managing floating licenses.
Duties as directed by Finance Director and Dean of the College.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
Experience managing a team.
Familiarity with ServiceNow.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills with meticulous attention to detail, analytical, problem-solving, and following through.
