The Opportunity:
The UCF Building Department is looking for a Plans Examiner/Inspector at our main campus location in Orlando.
This position is responsible for performing code reviews and inspections in University facilities in compliance with the Florida Building Code. This position is designated as an Emergency Essential Personnel.
Responsibilities:
Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with currently adopted standards related to mechanical codes. Prepare written reports approving or rejecting plans in accordance with the adopted codes.
Perform on-site construction inspections to ensure compliance with adopted codes, approved plans, and specifications; coordinate corrective actions, and conduct follow-up inspections. Record inspection results and plan review comments in permit tracking software.
Maintain records of inspections, violations, and corrections. This position will develop a strong knowledge of campus facilities to enable a smooth and efficient plan review/inspection process.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant work experience in construction, design or inspections of buildings as supervisor or contractor or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Must possess minimum of 1 plans examiner and inspector license (2 total in the building discipline).
Preferred Qualifications:
Five years of experience in municipal or agency inspection, preferably in mechanical inspection.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The anticipated hourly range for this position is $26.83 - $38.91. The final offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
