The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Sciences (COS) seeks to hire a Postdoctoral Scholar for work in the Nanophotonic Materials Group (https://npm.creol.ucf.edu/) and the ARMI Lab (https://sites.google.com/site/ucfarmilab/). The Scholar would begin the position as soon as possible and serve for 1 year, extendable upon the availability of funds and mutual agreement. The Scholar will work with a team of faculty and students from UCF Chemistry, Optics, and Electrical Engineering who are developing new approaches for modelling, fabricating, and characterizing RF-active meta-surfaces.
The ideal candidate would hold a doctoral degree in physical science or engineering and have research experience in materials science, spectroscopy, and electromagnetic simulations. The Scholar will receive extensive technical and professional training in simulation, fabrication methods, and RF-electronics. They will also learn many interdisciplinary skills that are essential for fulfilling careers in industry, academia, and national labs.
Responsibilities:
The Postdoctoral Scholar will be responsible for working with the team to simulate, fabricate, and test select RF-active structures and meta-surfaces. They will participate in meetings with an external partner in industry and government, contribute to reports and publications, and assist with the development of new research proposals. By mentoring junior members and leading internal team meetings, the Scholar will develop valuable leadership skills. The candidate will also have the opportunity to teach, if desired.
Minimum Qualifications:
The Postdoctoral Scholar must be a US citizen or US permanent resident (green card holder) and hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in a physical science, engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will hold a Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, optics, materials science, or engineering, and interdisciplinary research experience in these fields.
