The Opportunity (Job description):

The University of Central Florida (UCF) Physics department in the College of Sciences (COS) seeks to hire Postdoctoral Scholars. The postdocs will be advised by Dr. Shyam Kattel and will work within his research group. Kattel’s group focuses on a fundamental understanding of catalytic reactions on surfaces and interfaces by developing and employing computational modeling methods to design novel catalytic materials for energy and sustainability. 

Responsibilities:

 The postdoctoral researcher will work on the computational design of materials for electrocatalysis. The candidate will work with other group members to computationally model electrochemical reactions under realistic conditions that include solvent, pH, electric field, and potential. The ideal candidates should have expertise and experience in executing density functional theory (DFT) calculations, microkinetic modeling, kinetic Monte Carlo simulations, and Machine learning methods.  

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a Ph.D. in the area of materials science, physics, chemical science and chemical engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidates should have expertise and experience in executing density functional theory (DFT) calculations to model electrochemical reactions, microkinetic modeling, kinetic Monte Carlo simulations, and Machine learning methods.
