The College of Sciences (COS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites nominations and applications for the position of tenured professor and director of the Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM). NSCM currently offers eight baccalaureates including a BFA in film, four master’s degree programs, a graduate corporate communication certificate, and a Ph.D. program in strategic communication. The Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy (FIEA) has been ranked as the #1 graduate game design program by the Princeton Review for four of the past 6 years. NSCM strives to provide excellence in research, teaching, creative works, and service to students and the community. NSCM students are active in internships and organizations on and off campus, making a significant impact on the local, national, and global community.
The director of NSCM holds a 12-month appointment and reports to the Dean of the College of Sciences. The director is responsible for leading the school, growing its research and creative activities, assuring excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, and supporting the success of its students, faculty, and staff.
The College of Sciences (COS) houses most of the university’s natural, computational, and social sciences in eight departments, two schools, and several centers. Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. from an accredited institution in a discipline appropriate to NSCM is required. In addition, the successful applicant must have a distinguished record of teaching, research, and service commensurate with a tenured full-time professor in NSCM.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with:
a record of administrative leadership in a university setting,
experience in handling faculty and staff matters,
external research funding,
proven fundraising skills,
a record of productive partnership with internal and external constituents,
the ability to advance the school’s broad educational and research mission.
