The Opportunity

UCF IT Telecommunications seeks an experienced Unified Communications Engineer III to join their team! Under minimal supervision the Unified Communications Engineer III will provide engineering and may lead UC and Collaboration projects along senior level engineers and multi-functional teams to provide outstanding solutions to customers. The engineer will collaborate with aspects of maintaining, configuring, and sustaining the Unified Communications Office 365 collaboration environments including upgrading/configuration, maintain, configure, and troubleshoot all Collaboration components and configuration of O365 projects, including On Prem/Cloud services, from the ground up. Provides senior level knowledge to provide quality and consistency.

This is an auxiliary funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides the most advanced level of O365 application design, installation and troubleshooting for the University's enterprise O365 servers and receive escalations for the day-to-day operations of real-time and asynchronous communications and collaborations systems to ensure final resolution on collaboration incidents. Provides Tier 3 support and serves as a mentor for Tier 2 support staff, providing guidance for resolution of issues.

  • Provides consultation and hands-on implementation support for Office 365 adoption and expansion including design, architecture, configuration, migration best practices, and strategies to support business unit objectives. Provides technical expertise on Office 365 services: Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft Azure.

  • Performs day-to-day Email administration tasks leveraging a combination of Microsoft Exchange Management Console and Exchange Management Shell (EMC/EMS) and the O365 ECP to manage end user mailboxes, shared mailboxes, distribution list, Room mailboxes and Public Folders.

  • Abilities to work within a Telecom Enterprise Management software application (ServiceNow) to receive, document, respond and record various trouble tickets and service requests in order to meet customer service level agreements (SLA).

  • Identifies opportunities for improved user experience based on knowledge of existing solutions, current user technology, M365 Roadmap and industry trends. Understands requirements gathering, evaluation, testing and lifecycle management for hardware & software.

  • Leads ongoing assessments of Office 365 compliance based on a unique set of security and organizational policy guidelines, regulatory frameworks, and governance best practices.

  • Assists with cost containment by auditing licensing usage and automating license provisioning to ensure appropriate assignment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with troubleshooting and administration of Microsoft 365 applications and services.

  • End user troubleshooting experience.

  • Experience in PowerShell scripting and automation.

  • Microsoft certifications are highly desirable.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Experience working in Azure environment.

  • Strong knowledge of IT Service Management and ITIL, preferably using ServiceNow – Incidents, Tasks, Problems, Knowledge, CMDB, Reporting, Dashboards. Proven track record to manage support and request tickets within SLAs, and drive Microsoft support cases to closure.

Special Instructions to the Applicants: 

This position involves an on-call rotation where work after normal business hours or on weekends may be required.
