Access and Community Engagement:
Access and Community Engagement collaborates both internally and with community partners to integrate access and belonging into the University’s mission. Utilizing data-informed strategies, we advance educational access and belonging for all students, including those of non-traditional backgrounds such as first-generation college students, military and veteran students, students with disabilities and unique abilities, and students with limited resources. In addition, we facilitate faculty, staff, and student development by creating opportunities for open dialogue and free expression of all viewpoints, thereby fostering civil discourse and creating inclusive teaching and learning environments.
The Opportunity:
UCF Access and Community Engagement seeks applicants for an Academic Support Coordinator II. The Academic Support Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing initiatives designed to support the academic and personal success of students. This role involves coordinating programming such as workshops, mentoring, and recognition events, while leveraging data to track student progress and identify areas for improvement. The Coordinator also collaborates with campus departments to foster a supportive environment and advocate for the unique needs of first-generation students, ensuring they feel connected, engaged, and empowered throughout their college experience.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and oversee evidence-based programs tailored to address the unique challenges and needs of first-generation students, ensuring their academic, personal, and professional success.
Utilize institutional data, student feedback, and national benchmarks to identify barriers to success and create targeted initiatives that promote retention, persistence, and graduation rates.
Develop outreach and engagement strategies to increase awareness and participation among first-generation students, ensuring equitable access to programs and services.
Plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive First-Gen Awareness Week to celebrate and support the achievements of first-generation college students. Organize events and ceremonies that celebrate the academic, personal, and professional accomplishments of first-generation students, creating a sense of pride and community.
Design comprehensive evaluation frameworks tailored to assess the effectiveness and impact of each program, aligning with institutional goals and strategic priorities.
Collaborate with campus partners, including faculty, student organizations, and staff to a range of events and programs.
Assist with Soar Success Program coordinating co-curricular activities.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
We welcome candidates with experience in any of the following areas:
Experience working with college students, particularly in academic support, student support, or advising roles.
Experience in programming, particularly in designing, implementing, and managing initiatives aimed at supporting student success.
Experience in program assessment and evaluation, with the ability to design comprehensive frameworks to measure program effectiveness.
Experience in event planning and program coordination, specifically events that enhance student engagement and foster a sense of belonging.
Strong background in outreach and engagement strategies, with a demonstrated ability to increase awareness and participation among students.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and empower students, as well as collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
