Join the UCF Health - Student Health Services team as an Accounting Specialist I and add to our dedication to providing excellent healthcare to the community we serve.
The Opportunity:
Accounting Specialist I oversees operations of the convenience store located in the front-end of the UCF Pharmacy. Main responsibilities include placing all orders with vendors, maintaining inventory, vendor relations, and ensuring convenience store is maximizing revenue opportunities. Also responsible for serving as lead cashier.
This is a time-limited funding position. Employment is subject to the availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for overseeing daily operations of the retail pharmacy convenience store.
Place all orders with vendors.
Receive orders into the system and ensure items are accounted for and undamaged.
Report damaged merchandise to the vendors and process returns.
Maintain vendor relations and ensure compliance with university business relationships/contracts.
Place special orders with vendors for supplies to be used by the Lab and Dental Center. Maintain 'Food Service Training' required by Dept of Health for Food Service Permit, maintain training log, and assist Health Inspector during inspection.
Maintain and update product expiration lists, stock shelves, front shelves, rotate inventory, build and move inventory displays.
Ensure convenience store shelves are clean and products are dusted.
Assist Retail Manager with account reconciliation, adjustments, and refunds.
Close out cashier batches and correct any batch errors if needed.
Responsible for opening and/or closing the cashier department.
Serve as backup when Retail Manager is absent.
Monitor and reconcile safe balance daily (including all petty cash funds) as well as assist with the preparation of quarterly reconciliation reports.
Assist with preparing requests and requisitions for replenishment of these funds.
Assist Retail Manager with running and maintaining biannual inventory reports.
Assist with printing inventory reports, counting stock, and preparing a list of adjustments to be performed by Retail Manager.
Perform inventory spot checks when an item does not scan at check out.
Run monthly OTC Sales eBO Report, monitor price markup, correct any pricing that falls below set revenue margin.
Prepare annual OTC Item Sales report for Pharmacy Manager's review.
Update pricing of all items annually to match new desired product markup as set by Pharmacy Manager.
Other duties as assigned by the Retail Manager, Pharmacy Manager, Business Manager I, and/or designee.
Timely completion of all university, AHSC, and SHS trainings.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to work flexible schedules.
Experience in customer service roles.
Excellent professional communication skills.
Previous supervisory experience.
Previous experience in retail management, preferably in a pharmacy or convenience store setting
Basic understanding of financial management, including account reconciliation, handling cash, and preparing financial reports
